President Trump’s Full Speech to U.S. Military in Japan
President Donald Trump addressed U.S. troops aboard the USS George Washington in Japan on Tuesday as part of his multi-day visit to Asia. During the trip, Trump is scheduled to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday.
Earlier, Trump met with Japan’s newly elected ultraconservative prime minister, Sanae Takaichi, ahead of one of the busiest days of his tour. His schedule includes delivering remarks to American service members aboard the aircraft carrier and engaging with Japanese business leaders.
Just weeks into her term, Prime Minister Takaichi is reportedly seeking to establish a personal rapport with Trump in hopes of easing ongoing trade tensions. Among the proposals under consideration by Japan’s government is the purchase of a fleet of American-made Ford F-150 trucks.
Trump also made a stop in Malaysia on Sunday, where he held discussions focused primarily on trade with regional leaders as part of his broader effort to strengthen economic ties across Asia.
