South Korea has reached a trade agreement with the United States aimed at reducing tariffs.

SEOUL — South Korea has officially reached a trade agreement with the United States designed to reduce tariffs and strengthen economic ties between the two nations. The deal, announced on Wednesday, is expected to boost bilateral trade and open new opportunities for exporters on both sides.

According to government officials, the agreement will gradually lower tariffs on a range of goods, including automobiles, electronics, and agricultural products. Both countries expressed optimism that the deal will enhance competitiveness and encourage greater investment.

“This agreement reflects our commitment to a fair and balanced trade relationship,” a spokesperson for South Korea’s Ministry of Trade said. “It will help our businesses expand globally and benefit consumers through more affordable products.”

U.S. trade representatives also hailed the agreement as a win for American manufacturers and farmers. “This partnership will support jobs and ensure stronger economic cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region,” a White House statement said.

The new trade pact comes as part of ongoing efforts by both governments to deepen economic collaboration and counter global supply chain challenges. Implementation of the deal is expected to begin later this year after formal ratification by both sides.
