California’s Democratic senators are calling on the Justice Department to withdraw its federal election monitors.

California’s Democratic senators have urged the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) to remove federal election monitors from polling sites across the state.

In a joint statement, the senators argued that California’s election system is already secure, transparent, and well-managed by state and local officials. They said the presence of federal monitors could create unnecessary confusion among voters and undermine confidence in the state’s election process.

The senators emphasized that California has a strong record of protecting voting rights and ensuring fair elections without outside interference. They also suggested that the DOJ should focus its monitoring efforts in states where voter suppression or election irregularities are genuine concerns.

Their letter comes amid growing tension between state and federal authorities over election oversight, as some federal agencies have increased monitoring in the wake of disputes over voting security and integrity.
